On Saturday night, we had a bonfire down by the lake. We sat and listened to the Naylors tell funny stories, and show off their peculiar talents. Well, every one did actually. This is a picture of the bonfire. I think this picts really neat.
My camera must have a heat seeking setting. You can see the orange from the heat of the fire, and the boys seem to be smoking a little.

John's lovely foot. In the fire is a water bottle full of water. The plastic won't burn if there's water in it. One of the Naylors experiments.

Again, you can see heat. Jeremy had just had his camera up by the fire (taking a picture) and as he pulled it away, you can see the heat.

Daniel F. We had camera wars to see who could get the most pictures of each other. I got a lot of pictures of people holding there camera's in front of their faces, and of Caleb's back.

My little brother Jed did not get along with John for some reason. But John kept trying and eventually got to hold Jed without having him cry. It was funny. My little sister brought him in to the room when the Naylors were playing on stage, and Jed saw John and started crying.

Update

The other day on the way home from play practice, (this was after we got 6 inches of snow) I lost control while driving and we started weaving back and forth. I was startled at first, (Betsy was yelling a little) and got more control, but not enough. We ended up halfway in the ditch. I had to call home (luckily I had the cell phone with me) and my brother Jacob came out with his four wheel drive truck and pulled me out. Brothers. Can't live without them. While I was waiting for him to come, I thought about how lucky we were to be OK. we were slanted at quite an angle and with enough momentum we could easily have flipped. We weren't to far from a telephone pole, and there had been no cars following us. So many things could have gone wrong, but praise the Lord, nothing did.

My little brother Seth has learned how to ride a bike! He's 5. I was 10 (I think) when I learned. He was so proud. He came up tome and said "Molly, do you want to see me ride two wheels?" I didn't know what he was talking about at first. He's my little man. Yahweh bless.

Circus

On Saturday, the whole family went to the Shrine circus in the cities. It was a lot of fun. They had alligators, ponies, elephants, and a camel, but no tigers or lions. This was most of the kids first circus. For a special treat, dad let Betsy and Seth ride an elephant. When we drove into the circus, their were protesters outside. Probably PETA, but you have to wonder what kind of a life the animals live in a circus? The people directing cars wore shrine hats, and Luke asked, "why are they wearing buckets on their heads?" I didn't get a picture of one, and for those of you who don't know, a Shriner is a man wearing a hat on their head that does look like a bucket. The circus was a lot of fun, but the weather outside was nasty. All wet. We're still getting rain. Today we went to Christenson's for our monthly bible meeting. Another wet dreary day, so I stayed inside. I'm one of the oldest kids in this group, so I'm kind of on the edge of playing with the kids, or talking with the moms. Kind of an awkward stage. Oh well. You got to grow up some time. Yahweh bless.

My brothers have been working hard collecting tree sap and making maple syrup. This is a tree they cut down (without asking!) beside our house to use for fuel. I think they've made a little over a gallon of syrup so far. It's well worth it during the cold winter months to get a treat like that. The house is sweet with the smell of boiling sap.

This is the front to my hope chest! It's coming along nicely, though my dad and I are finding it hard to work on it often with our busy schedules. We still need to make the body and stain it all. My dad is a very good carpenter. He told me a story about how he was making my mom a hope chest (before they married) and one day he was working on it and my mom came over for a surprise visit. My dad was a little annoyed and flustered. Luckily she didn't find out, but she distinctly remembers that say when my dad didn't seem happy to see her.

We had a wonderful dinner tonight. Turkey wild rice soup with freshly made sour dough bread and Tapioca pudding for dessert. My mom can cook so well! Unfortunately Jed had a hard time eating, so most of his dinner got spread onto his shirt.

Sound of Music

My latest news is that I got into the Sound of music play! Yay! I love being in plays. I got the part of Leisl, the oldest girl of the Von Trapp family. Practice starts tomorrow. This will make my schedule even busier.

We had the samanski family over for lunch today. So the morning was made up of everyone running around trying to make the house spotless right up until they arrived. It's always like this whenever anyone comes over. Gotta love it.

The days are warmer, and the snow is melting. The only bad thing is the mud. Spring is here! I love the warmer weather. Yahweh bless.
